Royal Highland Agricultural Society of Scotland has a historic reputation dating back to 1784 for recognising and rewarding excellence. Technical Innovation is pivotal to the future of Scotland’s key industries, whether in keeping with the industry, improving the environment, promoting best practice or ensuring operator safety and comfort.

And this has never been so important as it is in today’s rapidly-changing agriculture. The Technical Innovation Awards, which are presented every year at the Royal Highland Show in June, aim to acknowledge the individuals or businesses that are striving towards improving efficiencies in the rural sectors.

RHASS has announced the 2018 winners of the Technical Innovations Awards, with two Golds, five Silver and three Certificates of Commendations being awarded.

We achieved Gold status in 2018, which is presented for continuous outstanding merit to a previous silver medal winner. In 2015, we won silver at the Royal Highland Show for the innovative Ashley Olsson invention the Clipex all steel post, in 2018 we backed up our hard work by winning GOLD in the technical innovation category.

These technical innovation awards are widely recognised within the industry. The products are rigorously assessed by a group of judges over a 6-month period before the show. The product must have proven itself in the field, backed with up with many customer’s statements, each applicant must provide a full statement of finances and numbers sold, demonstrating year on year growth. Our Associate Director, Stuart Mills said, “This is a great achievement and fully acknowledges all our efforts from all the staff and just proves we are leading the way in fencing innovation”.
