Choosing the right gate is important, after all there is no 'one size fits all' option. In our guide below we have listed the different types of gates available along with their purpose. Wooden Gates

• Scandinavian Redwood is a pressure treated prepared softwood with a slight green tinge appearance. No treatment is required once installed although the longevity and appearance can be enhanced by some annual maintenance.
• Premium hardwood with the appearance and qualities of teak, planed and sanded to a mid brown finish. Much lighter in weight than that of Oak and Keruing, reducing the pressure being put on the fittings and head stock. No treatment required, although a coating of teak oil annually will help maintain its natural colour.

Please note all our wooden gates are produced from sustainable well managed forests and handcrafted in the UK. Take a look at our timber guide for more information about the types of fencing timber available.  Beware of cheaper options that may use green fresh timber. This timber is not dried and may be susceptible to movement and splitting. The finish may also be a lower quality with the fixings (bolts and nuts) possibly using a cheaper BZP finish, instead stainless steel.

Kent Gate The Kent gate is a six bar gate with smaller gaps between the shuttles, ideal for stopping livestock or pets from escaping The hanging stile is ex125mm x 75mm with an ex75mm x 75mm closing style and an ex100mm x 75mm top rail. Standard sizes range from 2400mm (8’) to 3660mm (12′). Widths of up to 4572mm 15’ are available. All gates are made to order
Palisade Gate An attractive design commonly seen in gardens for decorative and boundary marker purposes Can easily be fitted amongst a run of palisade fencing Pressure treated for longevity in a smooth planed timber finish Standard sizes range from 900mm to 1200mm wide and 900mm to 1200mm tall Available in both pointed top and rounded top options.
