The British Open Fencing Championship & Speed Fencing Showdown Set to Ignite APF 2026
McVeigh Parker is gearing up to deliver the most exciting fencing spectacle in the UK as we once again host both the British Open Fencing Championship and the fast‑growing British Open Speed Fencing Competition at the APF Show on 24–25 September 2026.
Two days. Two elite competitions. One iconic hill. This is where the best in agricultural fencing step up, stand out, and battle for national glory.
The British Open Fencing Championship — Friday 25 September
The flagship event returns—bigger, tougher and more hotly contested than ever.
Between 12–14 elite two person teams will go head‑to‑head on the famous Ragley Hall slope, racing against the clock to secure the coveted title of British Open Champion.
The challenge:
- Construct 60m of stock fencing in just 4 hours
- Include one turn, strutted and box strainers
- Use hand tools only
- Deliver near‑perfect straightness, tension, post alignment and knot work
- Every detail counts. Every mistake costs. Only the most precise, composed, and skilled will walk away with the trophy, the prize money, and the prestige.
- The winners will be crowned at 4pm on 25 September at the McVeigh Parker stand.

The British Open Speed Fencing Competition — Thursday 24 September
After an explosive debut in 2024, the crowd‑favourite Speed Fencing Competition is back—and it’s levelling up.
Created in response to huge demand for long‑life all‑steel fencing systems, the contest spotlights the power and efficiency of Clipex steel posts, Triple X steel strainers, and high‑performance netting and fixings from X‑Fence, Gripple and Strainrite.
The challenge:
- Teams race throughout the day on 24 September
- Install 60m of fencing using full all‑steel systems
- Balance raw speed with rock‑solid quality
- Deliver the highest standards under intense time pressure
- The champion earns the right to call themselves the British Open Speed Fencer 2026—and the bragging rights that come with it.

Competitors will be scrutinised by top‑tier professionals, including:
- Hugh Morrison, Strainrite — decades of global contractor training experience
- James Hill, renowned agricultural fencing contractor with 30+ years in the field
Stuart Mills, Sales Director at McVeigh Parker, shared:
“2022 and 2024 were exceptional. The feedback from competitors and visitors was brilliant, so we’ve expanded the competitions again. Demand to enter has always been huge and this year will be no different.
With so many foresters now involved in fencing—either erecting or specifying—it’s a crucial audience for us. We can’t wait to welcome both familiar faces and first time visitors.”
To enter one or both competitions, please email Stuart Mills at stuart@mcveighparker.co.uk
REMEMBER - Due to overwhelming interest, all competitor entries go into a draw—only the lucky selected will make it to the hill.
The Fencing Village — A Must See Hub
Born from a McVeigh Parker concept in 2022, the Fencing Village has rapidly become one of the APF Show’s most talked about attractions. Now larger than ever, it brings together leading brands, the latest innovations and everything a fencing installer, buyer, or specifier needs to see in one place.
If fencing is part of your world, this is where you need to be.
