In autumn 2025, several kilometres of new woodland were planted across an exposed site in Gloucestershire.

With young trees immediately vulnerable to deer and other wildlife, the landowner required a fencing system capable of delivering long‑term protection with minimal maintenance.

The contractor responsible for the installation had visited McVeigh Parker’s Agroforestry stand earlier in the year, and the decision was already made. The Triple X Fencing System, combining Clipex steel posts, Xfence premium wire netting and British‑made Triple X strainers, offered the strength, durability and efficiency the project demanded, supported by a 30‑year guarantee.

“Clipex is a fantastic system, fast and easy to install,” said Tim, the contractor leading the project.

His team began by setting the end and turning posts, tying off the netting with Gripple T‑Clips and unrolling the wire toward the centre. Using Strainer Clamp, they tensioned each run before joining with Gripples and installing the intermediary Clipex posts.

Once the mesh was clipped to the Clipex posts, the fence line stood straight, tight and secure.

The ground conditions meant a standard tractor‑mounted post knocker was not an option. “It wasn’t tall enough and wouldn’t touch these posts or strainers,” Tim explained. Instead, the team augered in the strainers using a 1.5‑ton excavator, ensuring a solid foundation despite the unforgiving substrate.

Innovation played a key role throughout the installation. To handle the heavy wire rolls safely and efficiently, the team fabricated a simple wire unroller for the excavator, which proved both quick and effective. Gripple joiners and T‑Clips also made a noticeable difference. “They’re a game changer, especially with high‑tensile wire, Tim noted.

The Easy Petrol Post Driver once again proved its value, dramatically speeding up the installation of the intermediary posts. Working from the back of a UTV with a man basket provided a safe and efficient platform for this stage of the job.

Tim shared one final practical tip for anyone seeking a more weathered appearance: applying T‑wash to new galvanised steel knocks back the shine and gives the fence a softer, aged finish.

Despite the scale of the project and the demanding ground conditions, the Triple X Fencing System delivered a clean, strong and long‑lasting result. The combination of engineered steel components, high‑tensile wire and thoughtful installation ensured the new woodland is now well protected for decades to come.
